My Life of Songwriting and Recording
I've been writing songs since I was a wee lad. In 2022, I embarked on a project to record the ones worth recording, many in conjunction with a dear friend from my college days, who adds most of the piano and keyboard parts. I release these recordings here and tell the stories behind the songs.
This has been fun and rewarding, but also very challenging. I am an experienced musician, creator and audio engineer, but this project demands that I fill most of these roles myself, simultaneously, in a home studio environment, without any help. Many of the songs are complex, creating an endless supply of creative and technical challenges. Until now (spring of 2026), my efforts have focused more on establishing a system for dealing with all of these challenges, vs. optimizing the audio and performances in any given song. I have made a lot of progress, developed new techniques, and have shared some of the results.
But you know what? I can do better. With the system and some equipment upgrades now in place, and many technical hurdles hurdled, I will focus more on performance and audio quality going forward. I am proud of the material I have released to date, but I'm looking forward to demanding much more of myself, with the expectation of taking the recordings to new levels of arrangement, performance and audio quality.
