The Best (So Far)
Another Perfect Woman is my best recording overall so far. IMO. I am proud of the composition and arrangement. Someday I think I might be able to improve on the vocal performance and mix, but I think it is a solid recording as-is.
The Saga, Part 1: A Groove-y Overture is my (really “our” — see the notes in the link) most ambitious undertaking to date. I like the arrangement, but the performances, audio quality and mix can be improved. And I think the piece deserves another go.
The Causal Attraction of Two is a nice tune, and well executed here. The final recording is a little heavy on the bass, but otherwise beautifully mixed by my nephew, a pro audio engineer.
The Rest
Blue Curtains and Ice is the Moby Dick of my partner and me. It is a mutual favorite, but is exceptionally difficult to capture outside of a live context. Since we work 2,000 miles apart, live recordings are generally not possible. Someday. For now, this version does capture the essence of the song.
The Way I Feel For You is a fun song, but the recording can be improved. My partner and I are also pretty well sold on doing a slower, bluesier version.
Empty Wrong And Right is more of an experimental effort, as it brings together tracks from the 1980’s and 2020’s. It was fun to do. I think I’ll probably just leave it as-is. I had my fun …and, well, the song is what it is.
Sojourn Song is “okay”. I’m sure I can do a better job with the arrangement, recording and mix. But the song has an inherently low ceiling.
Christmas
Promise Me (You’ll Be Home For Christmas) is a pretty little Christmas song. Not much more to say. Not a terrible recording, and this will probably be the one and only release. I do like the bridge a lot.
Sing For Joy (At Christmas) (2025) A contemporary Christian Christmas song. I like the song, and remixed and corrected a few tracks in 2025, but more is needed. Needs to be a tiny bit faster, with new guitar and piano tracks.
